1. Pfizer’s Scholarship Award (Deadline: June 15, 2010)This $2000 scholarship is available to high school senior who has applied to college or a freshman, sophomore, or junior in college.

National Wild Turkey Federation

Applications for a $250.00 scholarship being offered through the National Wild Turkey Federation are available in the counseling office. Applicants must be a graduating senior pursuing a degree at an accredited institution, support preservation of the hunting tradition and actively participate in hunting sports, must be involved in school activities, demonstrate leadership skills among peers and in the community, submit an essay exhibiting dedication to conservation and three letters of recommendation. Deadline date to the counseling office is: Friday, May 7, 2010.

American Cancer Society Scholarship Program

The American Cancer Society offers scholarships to young cancer survivors. "The Great Lakes Division Young Survivor Scholarship Program". Scholarships are available annually, based on financial need. To qualify applicants must be:

• A cancer survivor age 20 or under
• A U.S. citizen and legal resident of Indiana or Michigan
• Attending, or planning to attend, an accredited college or university in Indiana or Michigan

Masonic Foundation Scholarship

A local scholarship from the Masonic Foundation is now available. (In the 2008/2009 school year SIX scholarships @ $500.00 were awarded!) Scholarship applications are available in the counseling office. You must be a high school senior, have two letters of recommendation from two school personnel, have two letters from non-school personnel and have a statement of vocational or professional goals. Deadline to the counseling office is: January 8, 2010.

AXA Achievement Community Scholarship

AAA Michigan School Safety Patrol

The State of Michigan is offering the "AAA Michigan School Safety Patrol" scholarship. Must have documented proof of participation in AAA's School Safety Patrol program. One student entry per school. Applications can be found in the counseling office. Deadline to the counseling office: March 30, 2010.

Michigan Freedom Academy

Interested in a youth leadership program? The Michigan Freedom Academy is a leadership program with a goal to instill, promote, and sharpen an appreciation for human freedoms. This FREE academy prepares young adults to pursue leadership roles as a means of assuring the survival and success of these ideals. Veterans of Foreign Wars Scholarships

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) scholarships. Information can be found for "The Voice of Democracy" and "The Patriot's Pen Contest" essay competition in the counseling office or online at: http://www.vfw.org/. Go to programs > VFW scholarship programs. Deadline dates are: November 1, 2009.

NROTC Scholarship Opportunities

There are 4-year NROTC (Navy) scholarships available. Application website: https://www.nrotc.navy.mil. Applicants must complete the Scholarship application by December of the current year.

CoCa-Cola Scholarship

The CoCa-Cola scholarship application is available online at: http://www.coca-colascholars.org/. Deadline is October 31, 2009.

AFSCME Family Scholarship ($2,000.00)

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must: Be a graduating high school senior who is the daughter or son of an AFSCME member. Be enrolled in a full-time degree program either at the accredited four-year institution (or at a two-year institution that will transfer credits to a four-year institution); and have taken the ACT. The scholarship may be used for any field of study. The application can be found at: http://www.afscme.org/members/880.cfm and is due by Dec. 31st of each year.

AXA Achievement Scholarship

MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award

Senior student athletes (male & female) meeting the requirements of: 3.5 GPA and having earned at least one varsity letter in an MHSAA sport can submit an application for the MHSAA Scholar-Athlete. Stop in the counseling office for information. Applications must be returned to the counseling office by: Monday, November 23, 2009.

AES Engineers Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated essays submitted. You are not required to take engineering courses to be eligible. Submit essays of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of the questions that are posted on website. Full details are available on website at: http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.php. There is no application packet for this award. Be sure to include your full name as well as the name of your school you are attending and your plans after graduation. Amount of award: $500.00. Deadline for entry: October 8, 2010.

Elks National Foundation Scholarship

The Elks National Foundation Scholarship applications are available in the counseling office or online at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/downloadMVS.cfm where you can submit electronically. A significant component of the scoring system is based on the overall professional appearance of the application. Areas covered are work experience, community service, leadership, extra curricular activities, honors and awards. Applications completed electronically, or at least typed, have a better chance of winning awards. Applications must be received to the local Elks Lodge by: November 2, 2009.

Michigan Education Association Scholarship

The Michigan Education Association offers a scholarship to public high school graduates and returning college students. Must include: Official high school transcript, personal resume and two letters of recommendation. Must plan on attending a Michigan Public community/junior college, a four-year degree-granting institution, or a vocational training institution. Only written or printed applications will be accepted. Application deadline is: Friday, February 12, 2010.

Kenley Farrel Memorial Scholarship

The Michigan Mosquito Control Association is offering TWO scholarships to encourage interest in mosquito control and to assist a student financially towards a higher education in Natural Science or a related field. The Kenley Farrel Memorial Scholarship and the William Lechel II Memorial Scholarship. These scholarships are available to high school seniors and undergraduate college students. To access the William Lechel Memorial Scholarship visit: www.mimosq.org and go to the "Student Competition" tab. Deadline date: November 15, 2009.

Ray A. Kroc Scholarship (McDonald's Corp.)

A $1,000.00 scholarship is being offered through the McDonald's Corp. of Tawas for one area high school senior. This award, named after McDonald's Corporation founder, honors students who demonstrate the characteristics exemplified by Ray Kroc-persistence, determination, hard work and all-around excellence. Stop in the counseling office for info. Deadline date to counseling office: Friday, May 7th, 2010.

Whittemore Speedway Scholarship

The Whittemore Racing Club is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship to an area high school senior. Information can be found in the counseling office. All applications must be postmarked no later than May 1, 2010 to address given on application.

Michigan Retailers Association

The Michigan Retailers Association is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship to a student or his/her parents that work for a business that is a member of MRA (Michigan Retailers Assoc.) Check with employer to see if they are members. Applications and information can be found online at: http://www.retailers.com/ and must be requested by March 15th and submitted by April 1st, 2010. Access code is MIRA. Awards are not based on financial need.

Kiwanis Club Scholarship

Applications are now available in the counseling office for the Kiwanis Club Scholarship. This scholarship is available to all seniors who plan on attending college, a trade school or a vocational school. Two recommendation letters and a brief resume are required. Deadline date to the counseling office: April 16, 2010.

The Thomas Pintkowski Memorial Scholarship

One female & one male will receive a $500.00 scholarship. You must have been a member of at least one varsity athletic team during your senior year, plan on attending a post secondary institution and carry a minimum GPA of 3.0. Deadline to the counseling office is: April 23, 2010.

The Holy Family Council of Catholic Women Scholarship

Applicants must be members of Holy Family Church, active in the youth ministry, plan on attending post secondary institution and carry at least a GPA of 2.5. Applications are available in the counseling office and must be returned to the office by: May 7, 2010.

Judith L. Thibault Scholarship

The Judith L. Thibault Memorial Scholarship application is now available in the counseling office. This scholarship is in memory of a long time resident and business owner in the Tawas area. Requirements: Current senior and plans on attending a college, university or trade school in the fall. Deadline to counseling office is: May 1, 2010.

Ryan Coleman Scholarship

Ryan Coleman Scholarship applications are now available in the counseling office. A $1,000.00 scholarship offered to a high school senior who's overall GPA falls between 2.5 and 3.5, however others may apply. This scholarship was created to perpetuate the memory of Ryan Coleman, a Tawas High School student who died of cancer. Deadline to the Counseling Office is: April 1, 2010.

2009 Student-View Scholarship Program

A quick and easy scholarship to apply for. $7,000.00 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community college or career school. No minimum ACT score or grade point average, no essay required, no lengthy application forms and no application fees. Simply log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. The scholarship winner will be announced in May, 2009. Scholarship deadline: April 22, 2009.

St. Joseph Health System Foundation Scholarships

Two $500.00 community scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors or graduates from Alcona, Arenac-Eastern, AuGres, Hale, Oscoda, Tawas or Whittemore-Prescott who are pursuing a career in a health care related field. Students must carry a minimum GPA of a 2.0, be involved in extra curricular activities or community volunteerism and (for college student, be enrolled full-time carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours.) Applications are available in the counseling office or by contacting the Foundation office at: 989-362-0113. Completed application must be turned into St. Joseph Hospital's Foundation Office by: April 14, 2010.

Sammy Body by Milk "Mustache" Scholarship

This application is available online for any senior athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, community service, leadership and include milk as part of their healthy lifestyle. Seniors interested in applying should visit the website for official rules and application information. Visit bodybymilk.com. Applications will only be accepted online until March 5, 2010.

Top O'Michigan Insurance Scholarship

A $1,000.00 renewable scholarship is being offered to a senior pursuing a career in the field of insurance or business and planning on attending Olivet College, in Olivet Michigan. The insurance industry offers career opportunities including areas of marketing, automation and underwriting. Applicants should be pursuing a career in the insurance field and should have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Applications are available in the counseling office. Application must be submitted to address given by MARCH 31ST.

Tawas Area Education Foundation Scholarship

Applications are now available for the Tawas Area Education Foundation Scholarships. The Education Foundation covers five different scholarships. Two letters of recommendation are required. Tawas High School Student Council Scholarship

The Student Council Scholarship is available for current high school seniors. You must have participated in Student Council for at least 2 years. Applications are in counseling office. Deadline date to office is: April 30, 2010.

Fraternal Order of the Eagles Scholarship

The Fraternal Order of The Eagles #2588 of East Tawas Scholarship applications are now available in the Counseling Office. Two scholarships at: $1,000.00 will be awarded. Requirements are: Must be a graduating senior, statement of goals, four letters of recommendation, 2 from school personnel and 2 from non-school personnel. Deadline to the Counseling Office is: April 1, 2010.

Tawas Football Alumni Association Scholarship

The Tawas Football Alumni Association is offering a $500.00 scholarship to a SENIOR football player who is planning on furthering his education after graduation from high school. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and must be submitted by April 1st, 2010 to address given.

Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation

This is a $2,000.00 non-renewable scholarship offered to graduating seniors. Winners are selected on the basis of scholarship, leadership, financial need, and dedication to the civil rights principles of Rosa L. Parks, whose historic stand against racial prejudice in 1955 brought her national recognition. Applicants must: Graduate by August 2010, have a 2.5 GPA or above, describe financial need, complete application form and essay, document community activities, confirm admission to university or college, furnish official copies of high school transcript and ACT results and furnish 3 letters of recommendation. Stop in the Counseling Office for more information. Applications must be submitted by: March 1, 2010.

The Michigan State Troopers Assistance Fund Scholarship

Scholarship applications are available for seniors who plan on attending a college or trade school. Criteria includes: GPA of 3.25 or higher, complete copy of FAFSA form, essay outlining accomplishments/community involvement/leadership abilities. Include transcript and complete application. Stop in the Counseling Office for more information. Application must be postmarked on or before:
April 1, 2010.

KFC Colonel's Scholarship

KFC is looking for outstanding seniors with financial need and entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel's Scholars program. To qualify, a student must be:

• Graduating from high school this academic year (between 12/1/09 and 8/31/2010)
• A U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Maintaining a high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Planning to attend a public, in-state college or university
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree

Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Authority Scholarship

Interested in becoming a pilot? The Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Authority is offering a Pilot Training Scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled in high school or equivalent, be at least 16 years of age, be a full-time resident of Alcona or Iosco County, and be able to meet the standards of FAA Third Class medical certificate. Applicants will need access to Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 61 to complete application. This is available via the website: www.oscairport.com and click on "scholarship" then on "Link to FAA Regulation Part 61." Applications in the Counseling Office. Deadline to address given is: April 1, 2010.

The Sunrise Side Republican Women's Club Annual Scholarship: The candidate must be a female U.S. citizen. Open to a graduating senior or 1st year student at a college or university. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or better and must participate in activities of the Sunrise Side Republican Women's Club. Stop in the Counseling Office for information. Deadline for submitting is April 15, 2010 to address given on application.

College Goal Sunday

SENIORS! NEED HELP FILLING OUT THE FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA)? Sunday, Feb. 10th, is College Goal Sunday. Between 2:00 & 4:00 PM you can get free expert help! Delta College and Kirtland Community College are both holding these. If you want to complete the FAFSA online on College Goal Sunday you must request PIN numbers at http://www.pin.ed.gov/ by Jan. 24th. Get one for yourself and one for your parents! GFWC Women's Club of Tawas Area

The GFWC Women's Club of Tawas Area has scholarship applications now available in the counseling office to ALL SENIORS accepted to a 2 or 4 year college. Deadline date to the Counseling Office is April 1, 2010.

Iosco County Community Foundation Scholarships

Two Scholarship opportunities through the Iosco County Community Foundation

The Carl & Christine Huebner Scholarship for Music/Creative Writing/Performing Arts· Three eligibility requirements must be met for this scholarship. Graduating senior from within Iosco County, GPA of 2.60 or above and you plan to attend an accredited college or university to major in the field of Music, Writing or the Performing Arts.

The Michael Wentworth Scholarship for the Arts. You are eligible if... you are a resident of Iosco County, you will be participating in any program at an accredited institution to study the arts in the following categories; architecture, design, painting, drawing, and/or art history.

Michigan Oil & Gas Producers Educational Foundation Scholarship

The Michigan Oil & Gas Producers Education Foundation is offering a $500.00 scholarship to a senior that will be pursuing a degree in an energy field of study. A minimum GPA of 3.00 is required and must demonstrate financial need. A scholarship application can be found online at http://www.mogpef.org/ or in the Counseling Office. Deadline date is April 1, 2010.

Helen Laidlaw Foundation Scholarship

The Helen Laidlaw Foundation Scholarship is now available in the Counseling Office or online at: http://helenlaidlawfondation.com for students pursuing a career in the health field. Nursing students are given first priority with second priority going to students entering a Pre-Med field. Two recommendation letters are required. You may either mail in application or drop it off at address given. Deadline to the Foundation is March 1, 2010.

Ronald McDonald House Scholarship

Ronald McDonald House Charities U.S. Scholarship Program: Planning on attending a two or four year college or university? Could use some financial assistance? For more information stop in the Counseling Office or visit the website at: http://www.rmhc.org/ Application deadline is February 16, 2010.

Stephanie Wilkuski Scholarship

Stephanie Wilkuski Scholarship applications are now available in the Counseling Office. The scholarship is sponsored by the GFWC Ladies Literary Club and is available to ALL SENIORS. Two letters of recommendation are needed. (2) $500.00 scholarships are awarded. Deadline to the Counseling Office is February 15, 2010.

Michigan Society of Professional Engineers

Michigan Society of Professional Engineers has 36 scholarships available to high school seniors! Get online and check them out. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum ACT score of 26. Visit their website at http://www.michiganspe.org/. Deadline is February 12, 2010.
