1. Pfizer’s Scholarship Award (Deadline: June 15, 2010)This $2000 scholarship is available to high school senior who has applied to college or a freshman, sophomore, or junior in college.

National Wild Turkey Federation

Applications for a $250.00 scholarship being offered through the National Wild Turkey Federation are available in the counseling office. Applicants must be a graduating senior pursuing a degree at an accredited institution, support preservation of the hunting tradition and actively participate in hunting sports, must be involved in school activities, demonstrate leadership skills among peers and in the community, submit an essay exhibiting dedication to conservation and three letters of recommendation. American Cancer Society Scholarship Program

The American Cancer Society offers scholarships to young cancer survivors. "The Great Lakes Division Young Survivor Scholarship Program". Scholarships are available annually, based on financial need. To qualify applicants must be:

  • A cancer survivor age 20 or under
  • A U.S. citizen and legal resident of Indiana or Michigan
  • Attending, or planning to attend, an accredited college or university in Indiana or Michigan

Masonic Foundation Scholarship

A local scholarship from the Masonic Foundation is now available. (In the 2008/2009 school year SIX scholarships @ $500.00 were awarded!) AFSCME Family Scholarship ($2,000.00)

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must: Be a graduating high school senior who is the daughter or son of an AFSCME member. Be enrolled in a full-time degree program either at the accredited four-year institution (or at a two-year institution that will transfer credits to a four-year institution); and have taken the ACT. AES Engineers Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated essays submitted. You are not required to take engineering courses to be eligible. Submit essays of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of the questions that are posted on website. Full details are available on website at: http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.php. There is no application packet for this award. Be sure to include your full name as well as the name of your school you are attending and your plans after graduation. Amount of award: $500.00. Deadline for entry: October 8, 2010.

Elks National Foundation Scholarship

The Elks National Foundation Scholarship applications are available in the counseling office or online at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/downloadMVS.cfm where you can submit electronically. A significant component of the scoring system is based on the overall professional appearance of the application. Areas covered are work experience, community service, leadership, extra curricular activities, honors and awards. Applications completed electronically, or at least typed, have a better chance of winning awards. Applications must be received to the local Elks Lodge by: November 2, 2009.

The Michigan Education Association offers a scholarship to public high school graduates and returning college students. Must include: Official high school transcript, personal resume and two letters of recommendation. Must plan on attending a Michigan Public community/junior college, a four-year degree-granting institution, or a vocational training institution. Kenley Farrel Memorial Scholarship

The Michigan Mosquito Control Association is offering TWO scholarships to encourage interest in mosquito control and to assist a student financially towards a higher education in Natural Science or a related field. The Kenley Farrel Memorial Scholarship and the William Lechel II Memorial Scholarship. These scholarships are available to high school seniors and undergraduate college students. The Michigan Retailers Association is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship to a student or his/her parents that work for a business that is a member of MRA (Michigan Retailers Assoc.) Kiwanis Club Scholarship

Applications are now available in the counseling office for the Kiwanis Club Scholarship. This scholarship is available to all seniors who plan on attending college, a trade school or a vocational school. Two recommendation letters and a brief resume are required. The Thomas Pintkowski Memorial Scholarship

One female & one male will receive a $500.00 scholarship. You must have been a member of at least one varsity athletic team during your senior year, plan on attending a post secondary institution and carry a minimum GPA of 3.0. Deadline to the counseling office is: April 23, 2010.

The Holy Family Council of Catholic Women Scholarship

Applicants must be members of Holy Family Church, active in the youth ministry, plan on attending post secondary institution and carry at least a GPA of 2.5. Applications are available in the counseling office and must be returned to the office by: May 7, 2010.

Ryan Coleman Scholarship applications are now available in the counseling office. A $1,000.00 scholarship offered to a high school senior who's overall GPA falls between 2.5 and 3.5, however others may apply. This scholarship was created to perpetuate the memory of Ryan Coleman, a Tawas High School student who died of cancer. Deadline to the Counseling Office is: April 1, 2010.

2009 Student-View Scholarship Program

A quick and easy scholarship to apply for. $7,000.00 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community college or career school. No minimum ACT score or grade point average, no essay required, no lengthy application forms and no application fees. St. Joseph Health System Foundation Scholarships

Two $500.00 community scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors or graduates from Alcona, Arenac-Eastern, AuGres, Hale, Oscoda, Tawas or Whittemore-Prescott who are pursuing a career in a health care related field. Students must carry a minimum GPA of a 2.0, be involved in extra curricular activities or community volunteerism and (for college student, be enrolled full-time carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours.) Sammy Body by Milk "Mustache" Scholarship

This application is available online for any senior athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, community service, leadership and include milk as part of their healthy lifestyle. A $1,000.00 renewable scholarship is being offered to a senior pursuing a career in the field of insurance or business and planning on attending Olivet College, in Olivet Michigan. The insurance industry offers career opportunities including areas of marketing, automation and underwriting. Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation

This is a $2,000.00 non-renewable scholarship offered to graduating seniors. Winners are selected on the basis of scholarship, leadership, financial need, and dedication to the civil rights principles of Rosa L. Parks, whose historic stand against racial prejudice in 1955 brought her national recognition. Applicants must: Graduate by August 2010, have a 2.5 GPA or above, describe financial need, complete application form and essay, document community activities, confirm admission to university or college, furnish official copies of high school transcript and ACT results and furnish 3 letters of recommendation. The Michigan State Troopers Assistance Fund Scholarship

Scholarship applications are available for seniors who plan on attending a college or trade school. KFC Colonel's Scholarship

KFC is looking for outstanding seniors with financial need and entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel's Scholars program. To qualify, a student must be:

  • Graduating from high school this academic year (between 12/1/09 and 8/31/2010)
  • A U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Maintaining a high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Planning to attend a public, in-state college or university
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree

Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Authority Scholarship

Interested in becoming a pilot? The Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Authority is offering a Pilot Training Scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled in high school or equivalent, be at least 16 years of age, be a full-time resident of Alcona or Iosco County, and be able to meet the standards of FAA Third Class medical certificate. Two Scholarship opportunities through the Iosco County Community Foundation

The Carl & Christine Huebner Scholarship for Music/Creative Writing/Performing Arts· Three eligibility requirements must be met for this scholarship. Graduating senior from within Iosco County, GPA of 2.60 or above and you plan to attend an accredited college or university to major in the field of Music, Writing or the Performing Arts.

The Michael Wentworth Scholarship for the Arts. You are eligible if... you are a resident of Iosco County, you will be participating in any program at an accredited institution to study the arts in the following categories; architecture, design, painting, drawing, and/or art history.

Helen Laidlaw Foundation Scholarship

Nursing students are given first priority with second priority going to students entering a Pre-Med field. Two recommendation letters are required.
